Her adaptability, and forward-thinking nature ensures she stays up-to-date with the relevant skills for her career path, a characteristic she shares with other<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.getsmarter.com\/blog\/combat-career-inertia-by-adopting-the-mindset-of-a-new-professional\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Professionals<\/a><\/strong>. Following a car accident that ended her sporting aspirations, Lee-Ann transferred her passion for playing sports into writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lee-Ann\u2019s eagerness to stay ahead led her to pursue the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.getsmarter.com\/courses\/za\/uct-feature-writing-short-course\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University of Cape Town &nbsp;Feature Journalism online short course<\/a>.<\/strong> Aiming to polish up on her existing writing skills, Lee-Ann found that she gained a new set of storytelling techniques altogether. &#8220;Writing can do so much for a person, I feel I have become a better person since I discovered that I could put words together and create stories out of nothing.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Finally registered for my Feature Journalism course with UCT and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/getsmarter?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@getsmarter<\/a> \ud83d\ude4c. It was an achievement I could tick off on my list.\u201d Regarding her experience with GetSmarter, Lee-Ann says the online learning platform gave her the opportunity to \u201chave it all\u201d.
