Some of the slightly more paid ones are ones like QuickBooks which is designed to be able to teach people how to do their own accounting or bookkeeping with no experience at all. You can also use Excel. People track their own books by just writing it down on a piece of paper, but I would look at a couple of open source or easy to learn accounting programs if you want to do it
