Summary of Job:
The main purpose of this role is to use motion design to aid student learning, and add engagement to all videos, while keeping with 2U and university partner style guides. 

* Though the below responsibilities and requirements are relevant for mid-level experience, we would also be interested in junior and more senior profiles, depending on current business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform motion design tasks to best ability, with minimal supervision and revisions of work needed; from pre-production (graphics meetings and sketches) through to execution (animation).
  • Produce content of industry-leading quality.
  • Able to conceptualise complex animations that support the learning outcome.
  • Good organisation (staying up-to-date with communication, scheduling and planning).
  • Effective, clear and professional communications with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Good interpersonal skills and relationships.  
  • Confident to raise issues/concerns with lead.
  • Manage timelines and deadlines of assigned projects.
  • Proactive problem-solving.  
  • Keeping up to date with motion design trends, new technologies and software; and sharing findings with the team.
  • Self-motivated upskilling.
  • Give specific guidance/mentorship in area of expertise to junior motion designers.
  • Lead specific training sessions in line with expertise (manager's discretion).
  • Ability to self-review
  • Engage in team training to further personal & departmental development.
  • Neat presentation.

Education and Experience:

  • Demonstrable skill in animation.
  • Demonstrable excellence in After Effects, including the graph editor.
  • Able to work in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Demonstrable basic knowledge of expressions (wiggle, loop).
  • A good sense of timing and rhythm.
  • Basic understanding of either 3D or traditional animation.
  • Proof of conceptual work.
  • Evidence of conceptual thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Professional written and verbal communication.
  • Good collaboration skills.
  • Receptive to feedback.
  • Demonstrable regard and respect from peers/teachers/mentors.
  • A passion for motion design.
  • Examples of initiative taken in previous work/position.
  • Attention to detail
  • Growth mindset.

Additional attributes that will help you succeed in this role:

  • Ability in Cinema 4D, Blender, Photoshop and/or Adobe Animate.
  • Working knowledge of scripting or coding languages.
  • Graphic design, illustration, video or sound editing skills.
  • Experience in education/edtech.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Examples of previous leadership roles.
