We’re on the search for a dynamic, entrepreneurial and strategic leader to manage a team of GMs serving a portfolio of university partners in South Africa. The GM will manage the team, as well as the relationship with the universities, along with all cross-functional internal operations related to partnership success within the ZA/Africa region. Our ideal candidate will possess superior relationship building skills, management and goal setting and execution experience and an unmatched business acumen.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Overseeing the General Managers addressing all 2U operations related to the university partnerships within the region; measure performance of company goals and proactively establishing targets for improvement
  • Partnering with Dean/senior faculty level within the region, as well as other leadership at the school and across the university to ensure short course and program success
  • Acting as final decision maker for all business operations components related to short courses, including curriculum, marketing, admissions and post-enrollment services
  • Developing, reviewing, updating and implementing strategic planning; this includes marketing/sales, support services and curriculum development
  • Effectively building and managing relationship with the university; acting with the GM as the relationship manager for 2U and leveraging the relationship to assist with maintaining efficient operational processes
  • Matrix managing internal partners responsible for other operational areas associated with the short course or program (e.g. marketing and technology)
  • Directly managing GM and Program Management staff in the region
  • Collaborating directly with Functional Heads – including Tech, Education, Marketing, Student Success, Finance – to develop the highest quality courses and serve the university at the highest level
  • Serving as subject matter expert for market space and curriculum for the 2U organisation

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures
  • 7-10 years’ experience managing external clients/partners and leading large scale internal operations and teams
  • Record of success with entrepreneurial approach to building and sustaining effective partnerships and business operations in both dynamic matrix environment and established environment
  • Experiencing in goal setting and building high-performing teams and team metrics.

Working Conditions

This job will require extensive travelling to Universities in South Africa.
