Summary of Job:

The Technology Internal Audit Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities related to the assessment, audit and improvement of systems and technology processes and controls for 2U Cape Town. This individual will assist with the IT Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program and will play an active role on local systems and technology projects and initiatives to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. The Technology Internal Audit Manager will work closely with the non-technology senior internal auditors based in Cape Town. The position will report functionally to 2U U.S. Internal Audit and administratively to local management in 2U Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage and perform activities and tasks required of testing 2U Cape Town’s system of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR), including IT General Controls (ITGCs) and General Computing Controls (GCCs) for SOX compliance

 

  • Conduct walkthroughs with process owners to determine system scoping and identify key controls and risks and documenting into risk and control matrices (RACMs) and process flowcharts.
  • Execute IT testing for SOX and internal audits over IT risks (such as cybersecurity), including validating and documenting results, drafting reports and confirming issues with technology and business process owners, where appropriate.
  • Evaluate IT projects and system implementations throughout the lifecycle of projects to identify key risks and controls and report findings back to IA leadership in the US.
  • Partner with local IT management on new initiatives and system changes to ensure adequate controls and processes are implemented.
  • Assist with the internal and external testing of security and compliance audits such as SOC-2.
  • Communicate, both written and verbal, control analysis and recommendations with clarity, confidence and professionalism to internal and external parties.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with technology process owners across 2U Cape Town, and stay current on technical issues and emerging trends applicable to the internal control and internal audit processes in additions to changes in the business.
  • Partner with the business process Internal Auditors and assist in the business process audits over areas such as Accounts Payable (AP), Revenue, Payroll, HR, Fixed Assets and Financial Reporting.

Key Skills

  • Knowledge of IT general controls and auditing of IT processes
  • Understanding of audit methodology and process analysis

  • Able to obtain, analyze and evaluate data according to defined criteria

  • Willingness to adapt to the many changing requirements and needs of a fast-growing company
  • Experience with Workday and/or Salesforce highly desired, but not required
  • Prior SOX and SOC-2 experience preferred, but not required.

 

Background:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of total work experience

 

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience managing technology audits
  • Candidates with public accounting experience highly desired, but not required
