Globally, the separation and suppression of ethnic minorities has led to a multitude of divides that exist at every level of society. Awareness of racial inequity, however, is growing, and small and large companies alike are realizing the impact exclusion and systemic racism has on employees, workplace culture, as well as performance.
The Leading Racial Equity and Inclusion in Organizations online short course explores both the business priority, and greater social responsibility, of addressing racial inequality. Designed by the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University, this four-week course gives you the tools and insights to implement and promote racial equity and inclusion in your organization. You’ll begin by exploring the root causes of racial inequalities and structural realities within the U.S., and examine how these dynamics have shaped the business world today. Set against the context of a diverse range of real-world case-studies, you’ll engage with the Racial Equity Framework — a tool to improve racial equity outcomes in corporate, governmental, and nonprofit organizations. You’ll use this framework to turn theory into action when you create a Racial Equity Action Plan to support and drive equity and inclusion within your own context.
Is this course for you?
This course is for leaders and managers who are interested in increasing their diversity awareness. The course aims to give these executives an enhanced perspective of racial equity — including the history of U.S. inequality and its manifestations in modern society. With the skills and tools gained, they’ll be well positioned to better serve minority employee groups within their context, and drive racial equity and inclusion initiatives.
The course is also designed for mid-level team leaders, as well as specialists, recruiters, and those involved in workplace diversity and inclusion. These professionals will walk away from the course equipped to create a supportive and unbiased culture that promotes equal opportunities and fair treatment for all employees.
