Professor Tim Morris

Professor Tim Morris has been at Oxford University's Saïd Business School since 2002.
At Oxford, he teaches on many of the School’s executive programmes helping leaders from corporate, government and non-profit organisations grapple with the complex organisational challenges they face.
His research, teaching and consulting activities are closely interlinked. One major stream of his research, conducted with colleagues at Oxford Saïd, examines the role and development of CEOs in large corporations. Based on interviews with over 150 CEOs worldwide, this research explores what it takes to lead a large corporation today. It was launched at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, and has been widely covered in the media. From this research, he and his colleagues have developed numerous models of leadership in action that he uses with executives and in his consulting work. Tim has also written extensively about models of innovation and competitive advantage in the increasingly important field of professional service firms (PSFs). He works with partners and other senior managers in these firms using proprietary models to help them become more competitive and effective.
He has published his research extensively in leading international journals as well as authoring several books and numerous chapters in collected editions. His work has been featured in Harvard Business Review, The Economist, Financial Times, CNN and Forbes.
Before taking up his role at Oxford, he was a professor at Imperial College, London, and at London Business School. He studied as an undergraduate at Cambridge University and has a masters and doctorate from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
