Healthcare is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world,1 with health information technology (HIT) enhancing the patient experience by reducing medical errors and increasing efficiency.2

Drawing on the University of Chicago's programs in genomic research, translational medicine, and computation, the Healthcare Informatics online short course is designed to provide you with an in-depth overview of the field's key topics. The course explores the importance of security, privacy, and confidentiality of patient information, as well as mandatory policies regarding data handling and reporting.

Over eight weeks you’ll gain the confidence to make quality assessments and implement change through an overview of healthcare delivery, implementation science, and clinical workflow analysis and redesign. You’ll also become familiar with healthcare trends, such as mobile health technology and its application in telemedicine and wearables.
