Professor of Information Systems and Director of the School of IT at the University of Cape Town
Ulrike Rivett holds an undergraduate degree in Land Surveying from the University of Munich, Germany and a PhD in Integrated Information Systems from the University of Cape Town (UCT). She has worked at UCT in the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Information Systems for 16 years.
Rivett leads the iCOMMS research team, which focuses on understanding the use of Information and Communication Technology Services (ICTS) for the benefit of society by engaging proactively with government, municipalities, and rural communities. Her work entails implementing research findings and increasing impact beyond the academic boundary. She has taught in the areas of information systems, project management, design thinking, and engineering.
