The University of Cape Town (UCT) Fintech: Disruption in Finance online short course prepares you to better understand, interpret, and respond to the disruptions and opportunities within the financial market. Taking a holistic approach to financial technology, this course provides you with an overview of a number of key thematic areas, such as blockchain and AI,  with the goal of empowering you to better understand the industry and available technology therein. This knowledge will help you make more strategic business decisions, unlock new career opportunities, and prepare for fintech innovation within your organisation.

Associate Professor and Director of the Financial Innovation Lab, UCT

Georg completed his PhD in economics at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena in Germany, graduating summa cum laude. He is the director of the Financial Innovation Lab at UCT and holds a part-time appointment at the Deutsche Bundesbank as a research economist in banking supervision and regulation.

Georg also currently holds academic positions as a research associate at Goethe University and Oxford University, as well as an affiliate at Columbia University.
