Course overview
The percentage of organisations executing at least one DEI action. Yet over a third of these institutions don’t have a strategy in place to monitor these initiatives.
Workday (2021).
Employees who say leadership and commitment from the top is needed to make more progress on DEI initiatives.
Workday (2021).
Duration: 8 weeks (excluding orientation)
The increasingly diverse workforce requires organisations and leaders to ensure all employees, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion, are treated fairly. However, there is often a disconnect between ideas, intent, and action.
Inclusion in today’s workplace directly impacts talent retention and the balance sheet. Employees who don’t feel valued or heard are less likely to remain with a company, leading to burnout and a reduced sense of belonging. Employers are trying to resolve retention issues due to trends like the great resignation, but inclusion is the crucial third factor that requires leaders to build well-being and openness into their organisation’s DNA.
The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) offers an eight-week course that leverages insights from behavioural science to enable you to create a more resilient and collaborative organisation. The course teaches an inclusive approach to leadership, which helps to implement practical and effective solutions to problems caused by entrenched bias, heuristics, and groupthink. The course is taught by Dr Grace Lordan, founder of The Inclusion Initiative (TII) at LSE. You’ll develop keen interpersonal and relational skills to improve search and hiring processes, mitigate poor conduct, and ensure equal career opportunities for all employees.
Is this course for you?
This online certificate course is ideal for managers who want to lead their teams more effectively and are interested in using behavioural science to overcome barriers to inclusion. The course equips leaders with the tools to create a work culture that promotes equal opportunities and fosters meaningful conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Human resources professionals and project and operations managers who aspire to become experts in DEI will benefit from the course's insights, which can enhance their professional and leadership skills while promoting well-being and inclusivity within their teams. The course also serves as a stepping stone for those looking to transition into the DEI space and pursue a career in this critical area.
This Inclusive Leadership Through Behavioural Science online certificate course is certified by the United Kingdom CPD Certification Service, and may be applicable to individuals who are members of, or are associated with, UK-based professional bodies. The course has an estimated 70 hours of learning.
Note: should you wish to claim CPD activity, the onus is on you. The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and GetSmarter accept no responsibility, and cannot be held responsible, for the claiming or validation of hours or points.
