Introduction

Rising healthcare costs, the growth of aging populations, increasing chronic diseases, and advances in technology and medicine demand that healthcare professionals are equipped to formulate leadership solutions and patient-centered strategies to improve healthcare delivery systems.1 On the Healthcare Management online short course, you’ll have the opportunity to develop the managerial skills necessary for modern healthcare environments.

Over the course of six weeks, you’ll examine the core leadership principles required to lead and manage people in the healthcare industry, plan strategically, and respond to the changing healthcare environment. With exposure to industry experts, you’ll learn to manage a healthcare workforce, understand healthcare financing, decision-making and problem-solving, in order to improve your organization and the patient experience.

Professorial Lecturer at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University

Rapp is a clinical educator, and former director of patient safety, at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. She received her Doctor of Nurse Practice from Yale University, as well as her Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Preceding her tenure at the George Washington University, Rapp worked at University Health System (San Antonio, Texas) as the patient safety officer.
